The ability to do work: 6 different forms of energy in details

The ability to do work is the combination of health, function, and the basic standard of competence and relevant occupational virtue you need to manage or execute your reasonable work task. In another word, it is called energy. Why is it so important?

For developing nations, one cannot ignore the importance of energy. Energy is necessary for almost all sectors such as industry, agriculture, trade and commerce, transportation even for getting out of bed, walking down the street, and lifting a finger.

The ability to do work: forms of energy

The ability of your body to do any work, in another word, is called energy. When you use your energy to do any work, it is called ability, and the movement of an object due to an applied force is called work. Without ability, you cannot utilize your work. However, several kinds of energy transfer the work or energy into an object. Let’s have a look:

  • Mechanical energy
  • Thermal energy
  • Chemical energy
  • Electrical energy
  • Electromagnetic energy
  • Nuclear energy

Mechanical energy:

This energy is also known as an object’s motion energy or kinetic energy. It is the sum of a kinetic and potential energy function. Both together form mechanical energy.

For example:

The massive ball of a demolition machine is mechanical energy to do work. When the machine holds the ball at a height, it possesses mechanical energy in the form of potential energy. When it falls, it contains mechanical energy in kinetic energy. As a result, it strikes the structure to be demolished through applying force.

Thermal energy:

This energy occurs due to the rise in temperature with the movement of the particulars or atoms within the objects or system that result in heat. The more the movement of the substances increases, the more this energy increases and produces heat. It is a type of kinetic energy.

Chemical energy:

Chemical energy is the combination of atoms and molecular as batteries, biomass/wood, petroleum, natural gas, coal, and photosynthesis which come in the form of potential energy. This energy is visible when any chemical reaction happens. This reaction turns into heat.

For example, the match is an example of chemical energy.

Electrical energy:

It is another form of kinetic energy that comes from any electrical charge. Both electric current and electric potential supply this energy with the help of an electric circuit. Such as battery, toaster, vacuum, phone, lightning, wind turbine, and many more.

Electric energy is two types:

  • Static electricity comes from friction
  • Current electricity comes from an electric charge.

Electromagnetic energy:

It is known as radiant energy that flows like the waves at a speed of light, including radio waves, microwaves, infrared, light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma rays. They pass in electrical and magnetic waves that can travel through space. This energy helps us to sense the whole world.

Nuclear energy:

This energy comes from a tiny atom that produces electricity turning a turbine. It is a series of machines that control nuclear fission.

As a whole, we can say the ability to do work is known as some change that reigns the whole world now. It is a basic human need, and without it, a human being is nothing. So, here we know about different forms of energy for different purposes.
